In the early hours of October 30, when the GSLV-F18 vehicle soared into the dark skies from the space port in Sriharikota and placed the NVS-03 satellite into a geosynchronous transfer orbit as intended, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and its industrial partners will have heaved a sigh of relief.
For ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan, whose tenure thus far has been a mixed bag with hits and misses, the success of the NVS-03 satellite launch could not have come at a more opportune time.
