Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off the new Vande Bharat Express train between Patliputra (Patna) and Gorakhpur, enhancing rail connectivity between Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The new high-speed train will run six days a week, equipped with modern features like Kavach safety system, rotatable seats, and Wi-Fi-enabled coaches.
Alongside the inauguration, the PM unveiled a series of development initiatives worth approximately ₹9,300 crore, aimed at transforming Bihar’s infrastructure and boosting regional growth.
The development package includes:
- Vaishali–Deoria railway line, improving inter-state rail connectivity
- Six sewage treatment plants under the Namami Gange Mission
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) at 15 power substations
- Over 6,600 homes sanctioned under the PM Awas Yojana (Urban)
- Launch of India’s first export-ready locomotive for African countries
The Prime Minister addressed a large gathering in Siwan, emphasizing the Centre’s commitment to Bihar’s development. This marks a significant moment ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections in late 2025.
With this move, Bihar inches closer to becoming a key hub for modern rail infrastructure, clean energy, and international-grade manufacturing.
